The custom product "CPT (Collaborative Robot Palletizing Tool)," which has achieved two years of success as a custom item, will now be offered as a standard product. CPT was born from the ideas of the custom line team at Piab Germany and has attracted attention since its launch in 2022 for its ability to pick multiple diverse boxes in the same cycle. Its off-center design, which extends up to 100mm in reach, and its lightweight, compact body reduce the burden on the robot arm. The built-in piCOMPACT(R)23 SMART valve unit enables rapid response and improves throughput. It also features COAX(R) technology, which excels in energy efficiency. The suction surface is plate exchangeable, making it easy to switch between foam pads and suction cups. Models compatible with UR20 size (UR E series and CB series) come with plug-and-play software, while other robot-compatible models are equipped with an IO-link compatible interface. The piCOMPACT23 SMART program has added the IO-Link Class B option. In highly safe robot cells, the power supply to actuators and sensors is separated to prevent the risk of injury to workers entering the cell during maintenance inspections after an emergency stop (E-stop). By combining the IO-Link Class B with the bistable valve option, higher safety is achieved as the bistable valve remains in its last position during power outages or emergency stops. When a power outage or emergency stop occurs, the power supply to the valve is cut off, but the power supply to the sensors continues, allowing for ongoing vacuum level checks and monitoring. If the pump is in energy-saving (ES) mode, the valve operates with pre-charging, generating vacuum to hold the workpiece. Cob-Solution has designed and developed a system for Rao Farmaceutici, a Sicilian animal pharmacy investing in e-commerce and conducting sales activities across Europe, to handle the picking and opening of cardboard boxes using Piab's B52XP suction cups and piCOMPACT23 SMART pumps. This system features a double bay design that accommodates various box shapes. Each bay can hold up to 40 sheets of 5mm thick cardboard. It retrieves folded cartons directly from the warehouse, assembles 4 boxes per minute, and performs taping. The gripper, utilizing Piab products, is used in the assembly cycle. Tecno Pack SpA has designed and developed an efficient gripper capable of handling pick-and-place applications in the factories of international leading confectionery manufacturers, using Piab's piGRIP(R) suction cups and piCOMPACT(R)23 SMART vacuum pumps. Tecno Pack's packaging line performs "primary packaging," which involves picking biscuits and packing them into flow packs, and "secondary packaging," which involves packing flow packs into cardboard boxes. This process is characterized by the variety of flow pack types used for the biscuits and the different carton sizes depending on the size of the flow packs. Piab's solutions are utilized in the "secondary packaging" phase. To accommodate these tasks, a robotic station equipped with four flex picker robots has been installed at Tecno Pack's factory.
