Hydlog15 Hydrogen Visualization System
Can you see hydrogen? A fail-safe tool for hydrogen gas.
Even in an anaerobic environment, detectors that can "visualize hydrogen" can be combined with a multi-channel synchronous measurement system to enable the confirmation of hydrogen gas behavior/distribution in space, supporting the establishment of a safe hydrogen leak detection system. The visualization of hydrogen gas in the target space allows for the numerical confirmation of leaked hydrogen, aiding in the optimal design and shape verification of enclosures. It is also used to verify the installation positions of commercially available hydrogen sensors. By feeding back measured data into CDF and other formats, even more accurate analyses can be achieved. The advanced research institute ISAS/JAXA has adopted our hydrogen visualization system in the development of next-generation rocket hydrogen engines.
basic information
A multi-point synchronous measurement system that uses a special alloy thin film that changes from metallic color to colorless and transparent when exposed to hydrogen, and confirms hydrogen detection through reflectance using laser light. Since it is intrinsically safe and explosion-proof through optical measurement, it allows for miniaturization of the sensor size and safe observation of hydrogen diffusion and behavior even in a 100% hydrogen atmosphere.

Completion of the wireless hydrogen sensor network demonstration.
The realization of odorless hydrogen supply through pipelines, assuming large-scale hydrogen transport in the future, requires leakage hydrogen detection as a substitute for odor detection. Therefore, our company has been developing a multi-point leakage hydrogen monitoring network system in collaboration with Iwatani Corporation, utilizing the Kitakyushu City Environmental Future Technology Development Grant, and has completed a three-year demonstration starting from the fiscal year 2019. In the development for fiscal year 2021, we conducted demonstrations at the 'Hydrogen Pipeline Leakage Simulation Evaluation Facility' established at the Kitakyushu Eco-Town Center, focusing on response tests of wireless hydrogen sensors and hydrogen selectivity evaluations in mixed gas environments. We also verified the appropriate pitch between handholes while varying the conditions of sensor response time and distance from the hydrogen leakage point. By continuously disseminating reliable evidence obtained from this research and development from Kitakyushu City, we believe it will contribute to the early utilization of odorless hydrogen and the establishment of a hydrogen supply chain.
