It is made by applying and impregnating thermosetting resins (phenolic resins, epoxy resins) onto paper, cotton fabric, or glass cloth, and then winding this onto a steel core while heating and applying pressure. Therefore, it is called "thermosetting resin laminated pipe" (JIS K 6914). Although it is a plastic pipe, it contains reinforcing materials such as paper, cotton fabric, or glass cloth, which gives it superior strength compared to pipes made by injection or extrusion. Additionally, it also possesses the insulating properties and chemical resistance of the base resin.
