Ultrasonic Water Infiltration Detection Device (Case Study of Water Infiltration Inspection for Circuit Breakers)

This is a technology for detecting water that has infiltrated steel structures using ultrasonic waves. By applying ultrasonic sensors from the outside without opening the interior, it is possible to detect even minute amounts of water infiltration. Traditional techniques have struggled to measure conditions where there is a certain amount of water infiltration and the wavefront is not horizontal. This technology is expected to be utilized for developing solutions to these challenges. Use Cases: - Inspection of water infiltration conditions due to cracks in bridge steel deck slabs (screening) - Inspection of water infiltration in circuit breakers for power transmission lines (inspection while live) *This technology is a joint development by the Public Works Research Institute, Mitsubishi Electric, and Hishiden Shonan Electronics. Additionally, the circuit breaker water infiltration inspection device is a product developed by Tokyo Electric Power Company Power Grid, Mitsubishi Electric, and Hishiden Shonan Electronics.
