Exploration and evaluation of Olink neurobiomarkers.

Multiplex Approach to Multifactorial Diseases: A New Era in Neurodegenerative Biomarker Research

Olink's neurobiomarker analysis is a proteomics method that allows for the highly sensitive and specific simultaneous measurement of neurodegenerative disease-related proteins from limited samples such as plasma, serum, and cerebrospinal fluid, using Proximity Extension Assay (PEA) technology. Olink Target 48 Neurodegeneration enables the absolute quantification of markers important in neurodegenerative disease research, such as Aß40, Aß42, pTau217, NfL, and GFAP, making it useful for longitudinal studies and inter-facility comparisons. Furthermore, by using Olink Explore HT and Target 96 Neurology, a broad protein profiling analysis including neuroinflammation and synaptic function becomes possible, supporting the identification of novel biomarkers and elucidation of pathological mechanisms. **Effects of Implementation** - Promotion of understanding disease mechanisms through comprehensive analysis of neuroinflammation-related proteins. - Increased efficiency in biomarker discovery and contribution to drug development research. - Ability to measure numerous proteins from a small amount of sample, allowing for effective use of valuable samples.

Applications/Examples of results

From cohort analyses such as the UK Biobank and SCALLOP to validation in clinical research, we can consistently conduct research from exploration to bridging studies on a single platform. It is utilized for research purposes in many fields, not only in disease research but also in healthcare related to aging, by companies, research institutions, and hospitals. It cannot be used for diagnosis. 1) Neurodegenerative Diseases: Looking Beyond the Boundaries of the Brain.
