UL Japan, Inc. (Headquarters: Ise City, Mie Prefecture, hereinafter referred to as UL Japan) will begin offering human exposure testing services for automotive equipment starting today, September 2 (Monday). In recent years, hybrid and electric vehicles have become more widespread, and it is expected that vehicles equipped with rechargeable energy storage systems will become more common in the future. In such vehicles, it is increasingly important to ensure that the electromagnetic waves emitted by onboard equipment do not adversely affect the human body, making compliance with ICNIRP guidelines essential. We have introduced the "ELT-400 Magnetic Field Exposure Level Tester" and the "Magnetic Field Measurement System 7904A-201" from the German company Narda S.T.S. This system allows for time-domain evaluation while simultaneously displaying the time variation of the magnetic field and enabling frequency analysis. The "ELT-400" alone could only perform relative measurements and magnetic field strength measurements in accordance with ICNIRP guidelines, but with the introduction of the "7904A-201," it is now possible to analyze occupancy conditions at specific frequencies as required by JASO TP-13002:2013.
