"CeramNex" is an alumina filler formed and controlled into distinctive shapes using DIC's unique inorganic oxide synthesis technology. It offers products in unique shapes such as plate-like and polyhedral forms. These alumina fillers possess high crystallinity, and by selecting shapes suitable for specific applications and adding them to the matrix, improvements in thermal conductivity, rigidity, and wear resistance can be expected. For example, polyhedral alumina is effective in enhancing thermal conductivity. Its 14-faced shape allows the fillers to contact each other on surfaces, making heat transfer more efficient than with spherical shapes that contact at points. This results in a heat dissipation improvement of up to 1.3 times. On the other hand, plate-like alumina features "high crystallinity" and a high aspect ratio, which is its most significant characteristic. Utilizing this feature, interesting effects on wear resistance have also been observed. When conventional alumina is added to resins or coatings, there is a significant issue of damage to the counterpart material.
