Silk ice made from "sea ice" has ice particles that are finely sized from a few microns to several tens of microns, providing a smooth texture. It envelops the fish completely and cools it quickly. As a result, the fish does not thrash about, preventing blood circulation and lactic acid buildup in its body, which means it does not get harmed. Additionally, silk ice can maintain sub-zero temperatures for an extended period. "Sea ice" employs a "continuous (one-pass)" method. (Traditionally, a "recirculating" method involves a large ice storage tank and ice maker that gradually produces ice.) It can continuously generate ice from cold seawater at 0°C to silk ice with varying ice concentrations, always maintaining stable temperature and concentration. There are two types available: a "ship-mounted type" that can be installed on fishing boats and a "land-based type" (which requires a separate storage tank) for use on land.
