Bio-based additives that expand functionality

Products such as particle additives similar to bio-based wax for surface protection and wax-based additives that replace PTFE to provide scratch resistance have been launched.

Wax-based additives used for matte finish and surface protection: ◎ Biodegradable CERAFLOUR 1000, CERAFLOUR 1001, and CERAFLOUR 1002 utilizing microorganisms. ◎ Recently developed CERAFLOUR 1003 and 1004 using corn starch, and CERAFLOUR 1010 modified from canola oil. Although not composed of wax, they possess wax-like properties, demonstrating scratch resistance and matte finish effects. Wax-based additives that replace PTFE for scratch resistance: ◎ Polyethylene-based CERAFLOUR 1050, 1051, and 1052 as alternatives to PTFE.

BYK's new PTFE-free wax additive

basic information

An organic modified polysiloxane-based surface modifier with reduced cyclic siloxanes that provide slip and leveling properties. ◎BYK-329 has a balanced leveling and defoaming property, making it suitable for epoxy and polyaspartic acid systems. BYK-379 lowers static and dynamic surface tension, preventing beading while enhancing slip properties and suppressing foam. BYK-3772 contains crosslinkable hydroxyl groups and is fixed to the film through crosslinking reactions in epoxy, urethane, and melamine systems, thus improving long-term surface characteristics. Although it is polyester-modified, it is also characterized by not using tin as a reaction catalyst. Surface modifiers for UV curing systems: BYK UV3511, UV 3590, UV 3595 Designed to reduce environmental impact. In non-aqueous systems, BYK-UV 3511 is particularly effective in improving wetting and leveling properties with a small amount. BYK-UV 3590 and UV 3595, which have crosslinkable reaction groups under ultraviolet light, provide slip properties and tape release properties on surfaces. Additionally, while having defoaming properties, they also have the advantage of causing minimal cloudiness in the coating film.
