Insect consumption is being developed to address social issues that will arise in the future. One particularly mentioned issue, the "protein crisis," is a phenomenon where global demand for meat and fish continues to rise due to global population growth and the expansion of the middle class, leading to a situation where protein supply will not keep up with demand worldwide by 2025 to 2030. Insects are being highlighted as a solution to this problem because they have a very low environmental impact when farmed for food and are extremely high in nutritional value, including protein. From the perspective of the SDGs, our company sees this as an opportunity to contribute to society, and we officially began farming crickets in 2021.
