Pipe anti-corrosion: Yokohama City Waterworks Bureau conducts effectiveness verification of NMR pipe protectors (2)
The Yokohama City Waterworks Bureau has verified the effectiveness of the "NMR Pipe Protector" in preventing the decrease of residual chlorine concentration in water distribution pipes.
The Yokohama City Waterworks Bureau confirmed an increase in residual chlorine concentration to prevent red rust and the associated reduction of disinfectant chlorine in the water supply pipe at the Tsurumi public office. Therefore, starting from November 5, 2012, a demonstration test was conducted using the water distribution pipe (100A) in the Hazawa area to prevent the decrease in residual chlorine concentration. During six measurements conducted from September 26 to October 30, before the installation of the NMR pipe protector, the residual chlorine concentration at the planned installation site (Point A) averaged 0.55 mg/L (with Point A's residual chlorine concentration set at 100%), while 50 meters downstream (Point B) averaged 0.41 mg/L (a reduction rate of 25.45%), and at the farthest point, 125 meters away (Point C), it averaged 0.23 mg/L (a reduction rate of 58.18%), indicating a decrease due to the red rust occurring in the piping. Subsequently, on November 5, the NMR pipe protector was installed, and after more than three months, during three measurements from February 19 to March 22, the residual chlorine concentration at the installation site (Point A) averaged 0.61 mg/L, while at 50 meters downstream (Point B) the average for the same three measurements was 0.61 mg/L (a reduction rate of 0%), showing that the decrease was mostly prevented. Even at the farthest point, 125 meters away (Point C), the average for the same three measurements was 0.55 mg/L (a reduction rate of 9.84%), significantly improving the reduction rate.
basic information
The Yokohama City Waterworks Bureau has verified that by using NMR pipe protectors, it can prevent red rust in the water supply pipes, similar to building supply pipes, and as a result, prevent the reduction of disinfectant chlorine in the main water supply pipes (distribution pipes). The results of this study were presented as an administrative paper titled "Verification of the Effect of a Rust Prevention Device Using Specific Electromagnetic Waves on the Prevention of Residual Chlorine Reduction in Distribution Pipes" at the Japan Water Works Association's 25th Annual National Conference (Water Research Presentation Conference) held in Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture, starting October 23, 2013.

The number of installations has surpassed 4,200 buildings! *As of March 2020 It has been implemented in the plumbing of various buildings such as condominiums, hotels, hospitals, commercial facilities, banks, schools, and office buildings, extending the lifespan of old plumbing to match the lifespan of the building. It has also been widely adopted in famous structures such as Buckingham Palace and the British Museum in the UK, receiving positive feedback from customers. It has been featured on the Discovery Channel and World Business Satellite (WBS), among others!
