<Implementation Record 1> Large Chemical Plant / Prevention of Heat Exchange Efficiency Decline in Heat Exchangers | Kyushu Region Installation Date: September 14, 2000 The heat exchangers at this chemical plant were subject to overall calcium scale buildup, necessitating disassembly, cleaning, and washing every five months. The accumulation of scale on the heat exchangers reduced cooling efficiency and negatively impacted product quality. As a countermeasure against scale and corrosion in the heat exchangers and piping, "Non-Scaler" was installed after cleaning the heat exchangers. ■Non-Scaler Mechanism In the pre-treatment section (pipe protector), it prevents calcium scale from adhering to the metal plates inside the "non-scaler." The non-scaler forces the calcium ions (Ca2+) in the water to oxidize using two types of metal plates (A and B) inside, transforming them into ultrafine particles (nano-particles) of calcium carbonate (CaCO3), which then disperse and flow in the water.
