From both environmental and energy cost perspectives, the cooling methods for data centers are shifting from gas refrigerants to water cooling systems. The biggest challenge with water cooling systems is the adhesion of insulating calcium scale to the fins of cooling towers and inside heat exchangers. When calcium scale adheres, cooling efficiency decreases, and the insulating layer within the heat exchanger prevents the primary cooling water's effectiveness from being adequately transferred to the secondary cooling water, resulting in reduced cooling performance for computers. This impact leads to a decrease in cooling functionality, with power consumption reportedly increasing by 10-20%. By installing a calcium adhesion prevention non-scaler in the supply water piping of the cooling tower, the calcium in the water is transformed into fine particles of calcium carbonate, preventing subsequent scale adhesion. Furthermore, this reduces the blowdown amount of cooling water by half and decreases the usage of alkaline agents, resulting in a significant reduction in power consumption. To prevent the formation of insulating red rust layers in the secondary cooling piping, the red rust prevention device NMR Pipe Protector is installed in the secondary side piping of the circulation pump, preventing the decrease in thermal conductivity efficiency caused by red rust and improving performance. This achieves approximately a 10% reduction in energy consumption and contributes to the long-term extension of piping life and reduction in chemical costs.
