Rolls with fine groove processing can add the following functions: 1) Wrinkle removal effect In the case of rubber rolls, the synergistic effect of fine groove processing, W helical lead, and inclined grooves allows for wrinkle removal without damaging the substrate. They can be used as a substitute for expander rolls or crown rolls. 2) Increased grip of the roll and air skew effect The issue of substrate lift due to air entrapment, which prevents an increase in line speed and causes scratches due to slippage, can be resolved with fine groove processed rolls. By removing the air that interposes between the substrate and the roll, the adhesion between them is improved. Therefore, it becomes possible to transport even rolls with a small wrapping angle without increasing tension. Additionally, due to the narrow groove width, the substrate is less likely to fall into the groove edges, thus avoiding the occurrence of transfer scratches.
