Food packaging... it wraps "deliciousness" and delivers "trust."
The essence of food packaging that balances everyday usability and the establishment of brand image.
In the food industry, packaging, which influences the first impression of a product, is extremely important for both its design, which expresses the brand's worldview and deliciousness, and its structure, which prioritizes usability. From a design perspective, it is essential to enhance the customer's appetite and expectations the moment they see the product, creating a sense of quality that resonates with the recipient. This significantly increases the product's value and stimulates the customer's desire to purchase, leading to the establishment of the brand image. On the other hand, printed packaging and gift boxes require not only aesthetic beauty but also a functional structure. Features such as ease of opening and portability, along with the "just right size and structure," strengthen trust in the brand. This is especially important for gifts and souvenirs, where the excitement of unboxing is emphasized, making structural aspects even more critical. Keipack (our company) responds to customer needs with 75 years of knowledge and technology focused on gift boxes and packaging. << Following the latter part of the "Basic Information" section below, we will provide information on various shapes in the "Applications/Examples" section. >>

Case Study: Lid and Body Assembly Box (1) We received an order for the original packaging of souvenir canelés. In pursuit of a sense of luxury suitable for the hotel's branding, we addressed the request with the following examples. Thorough Pre-Research and On-Site Visit: After the inquiry, we promptly visited the site. Before the business meeting, we explored the surrounding area to deeply understand the brand image and proposed a prototype with a "wood grain" design that matched the hotel's atmosphere, gaining trust through preparations that exceeded customer expectations. Commitment to Texture and Sample Provision: In response to the request for a box that one would want to store as carefully as a jewelry case, we sent a variety of samples from the pre-order stage. We created an environment where the texture and gloss could be checked one by one, supporting the selection of satisfactory materials. Adaptation to SDGs Policy: We respected the hotel's stated SDGs policy and proposed and realized packaging that leveraged our strength in paperboard rather than plastic. With our extensive knowledge as professionals and flexible proposals, we transformed the customer's vague image into a concrete form, completing a package that received high satisfaction from the purchasing customers.

[Example: Caramel Box (4)] This is an example of a caramel box that was adopted when we received a request to create a box for selling tea leaves with nourishing effects. We were asked to propose a suitable form for placing 30 stick-shaped products filled with powder side by side. Considering the need to prevent the bottom from collapsing and to reduce labor, as well as the product dimensions, we initially proposed a one-touch side-bottom box. This design automatically assembles the bottom of the box when it is set up, eliminating the labor of filling and, although the increased number of adhesive points raises the cost, it remained within budget. However, upon reviewing the sample, we discovered an issue with how the bottom was assembling. While it was dimensionally feasible, since the thin products were placed side by side, the depth was shallow compared to the front width of the box, which sometimes led to difficulties in properly assembling the bottom when set up. This could lead to unnecessary labor, so we proposed a caramel box again. The bottom would be sealed to prevent collapse. Setting aside the catalog specifications, we learned that in practical terms, the one-touch side-bottom box does not necessarily outperform the sack box in terms of work efficiency.

**Case Study: Other Shapes (2)** This is a case where we received an order for custom boxes specifically for cookies from a customer who supplies tea leaves and other food products to hotel cafes and bars. Initially, the consideration began with special shapes such as "triangular" and "dome-shaped," but through repeated prototypes, we pursued both design and practicality, ultimately arriving at the **"Roof-shaped BOX."** Flexible prototyping and design changes: For dimension changes that arose during meetings, we created new drawings and cut samples each time. We pursued the ideal shape without compromise, carefully finalizing the specifications over more than six months. Enhancing luxury through surface treatment: In the final process, we applied "press coat processing" to the proof prints, confirming a glossy finish that ensured quality suitable for a luxury hotel. Adaptation to complex printing: We adopted "New Pigeon 310g" material and achieved a meticulous color expression by adding a spot color (1C) to full-color (4C) offset UV printing. From the start of consultations in March to the official order in December, we provided persistent support. We delivered an elegant and substantial package based on a red color scheme, helping the client realize their "first-class service."

**Example: Four-Corner Taped Box (4)** This is a case of an order for a four-corner taped box for selling shumai. When it comes to cosmetic boxes used for on-the-spot packaging and sales at stores, the most important requirements are speed and space efficiency, as well as ease of access for customers when opening the box to retrieve the product. In this regard, the shape of the four-corner taped box is exceptionally advantageous. It can be folded and stacked, and its assembly is almost as simple as one-touch, making it easy to open and close. It meets all the aforementioned requirements. Since the bottom part is made from a single sheet of paper, there is no concern about the bottom breaking. This box for shumai was specifically designed in the four-corner taped box shape for that very reason. It is also possible to apply a food-grade coating on the inside for primary food packaging. When we first discussed this shumai box, we suggested applying a food-grade coating, which was well received, and there have been no changes to that specification since. It has also been praised for preventing the shumai skins from sticking to the box. The box has a shallow depth and a wide opening, making the product very visible, which is another feature that allows for packaging while showing it to customers in-store.

Example: Other Shapes (3) This is a design and production case of a custom-made package specifically for sweet potatoes, utilizing an arch shape and a structure that does not require adhesive. Based on the request to create a shape that differentiates the product from others on the shelf and catches the eye, we provided comprehensive support from design to development. The most notable feature of this product is the adoption of an arch shape for the lid, which is not commonly seen in off-the-shelf products. By designing in line with the product's world view and brand image, we enhanced visibility during display and achieved a memorable package. The arch shape highlights the unique softness and elegant roundness characteristic of sweet potatoes, adding high value as a gift. Furthermore, we pursued operational efficiency on-site by adopting a structure that allows for easy assembly without the need for adhesive, completing the assembly with the upper lid. By eliminating the adhesive process, we achieved a reduction in work time and significant cost savings while ensuring strong design quality, resulting in a package that excels in branding and functionality. We can propose strategic packaging solutions that maximize the appeal of the product with optimal shapes tailored to your needs and enhanced functionality for on-site convenience.

[Case Study: Bottom One-Touch Box (1)] We received an order for the production of cosmetic boxes from a health food company. Following a price increase from their original cosmetic box manufacturer, they consulted us and appreciated our prompt response and professional proposals, entrusting us with the entire project. As an example, we implemented the following initiatives: Quality Optimization: We reviewed the current product and pointed out that the paper was thinner than expected. By changing to an appropriate thickness, we achieved both quality assurance and cost reduction. Quality Control: To maintain the cleanliness required for health food products, we paid close attention to printing defects and other issues. Printing Support: We proposed corrections to the submission data before printing, preventing mistakes before they occurred. Due to the trust we have built, they now request our services without obtaining competitive quotes, and we will continue to strengthen our collaboration in the future.
