ETFE thick film coating resistant to corrosion and vibration in exhaust equipment.
Non-peeling corrosion protection for high-speed rotating parts! A robust coating that prevents chipping! Thick film processing without pinholes prevents early damage to exhaust fan substrates.
In high-temperature exhaust systems where strong acids, strong alkalis, and water vapor accumulate, the corrosion protection treatment of rotating bodies is a battle against "chipping and peeling of the coating due to dynamic loads (vibration and centrifugal force)." ● Challenges of Conventional Operations In general rust-proof coatings and ceramic coatings, chipping occurs due to the strong loads from high-speed rotation, leading to substrate corrosion and necessitating equipment replacement in a short period. ● Our Proposal for Solving the Challenges We propose ETFE coating, a fluoropolymer, to address these issues. ETFE has relatively excellent wear resistance and impact resistance among fluoropolymers, boasting strong adhesion that withstands intense drive loads and vibrations from constant rotation. By applying a thick film at the level of several hundred micrometers, we completely cover the substrate with a uniform coating free of pinholes. Even in a 100°C environment, it shuts out the penetration of corrosive components, preventing the disposal of expensive fans and blowers and achieving longer equipment lifespan.
basic information
【Coating Type】 Fluororesin (ETFE) Coating Contract Processing 【Film Performance and Physical Characteristics】 ● Excellent Mechanical Properties Combines high hardness, impact resistance, and abrasion resistance, preventing coating damage (chipping) due to impact and wear. ● Superior Chemical and Corrosion Resistance Exhibits excellent chemical stability against strong acids, strong alkalis, corrosive gases, and organic solvents. ● Thick Film Formation Capability (hundreds of μm) Physically blocks the transmission of water vapor and gas components with a dense thick film barrier free of pinholes. ● Usable Temperature Range Heat-resistant design comfortably covers exhaust gas temperatures around 100°C. 【Recommended Components】 ● Sirocco fans, multi-blade fans, impellers, turbo fans ● Various rotating bodies and drive metal parts requiring simultaneous heat resistance, corrosion resistance, and impact resistance. * We also flexibly accommodate optimal film thickness design and prototype processing according to equipment dimensions, rotational speed, and exhaust gas components.

Applications/Examples of results
**Main Recommended Uses** - Exhaust fans and blowers subjected to corrosive gases combined with constant vibration and high wind pressure. - Ventilation and exhaust pipes where friction and chipping due to collisions with solid particulates and dust are likely to occur. - Equipment where preventing sudden emergency line shutdowns due to early corrosion or cracking of the metal substrate is desired. **Improvement Case: Exhaust Fan in Harsh Corrosive Environment** - **Challenge** In a corrosive gas environment at 100°C, conventional anti-rust coatings experienced chipping and peeling due to centrifugal force and vibration. Corrosion of the substrate progressed from the peeling areas, necessitating complete replacement of the fan body every 2 to 3 years. - **Effects After Implementation** - The excellent mechanical strength of ETFE suppresses chipping and peeling of the coating even under rotational loads. - The thick, pinhole-free coating blocks gas, significantly extending the coating's durability from the conventional 1 year to "5 years." - By reducing corrosion damage to the fan substrate itself, we achieved a longer substrate replacement cycle and an increase in the number of recoating reuse instances.

Nikken Coating Industry Co., Ltd. has been a specialized manufacturer of functional coatings for contract processing, earning the trust of customers across various industries for 79 years since its founding. We leverage our processing technology to maximize the properties of fluororesins, such as non-stick, lubricity, and chemical resistance, providing high-performance coatings that directly address customer challenges, including "Thermo Pro Release" for thermal welding processes and "NonStick STC" for blades and precision molds. In recent years, in response to movements regarding regulations on fluorinated compounds (PFAS), "PEEK resin," which is gaining attention as a substitute for fluororesins, has become a focus. Nikken Coating Industry commercialized the world's first PEEK resin coating, "PEEKCOAT," in 1999. Based on the solid knowledge and know-how accumulated over more than 20 years, we are further intensifying our research and development efforts to explore the potential of next-generation PEEK coatings! We aim to be recognized as "the go-to for PEEK coatings" and will continue to lead the way. As "the best partner for functional coatings that builds trust through technology," Nikken Coating Industry will continue to contribute to the creation of high-quality, high-performance products.
