Non-fluorinated oil-resistant paper "O-hajiki" has been adopted for sandwich packaging.
At the bagel specialty store "MARUICHI BAGEL," located in Shimbashi, Tokyo, we have adopted the non-fluorinated oil-resistant paper "O-hajiki" for sandwich wrapping. "O-hajiki" achieves oil resistance using only paper materials and does not use PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), which raise concerns about environmental and health impacts. In this adoption, we received recognition for the peace of mind provided by not using PFAS, our commitment to environmental considerations, and the natural texture of the paper material, which harmonizes with MARUICHI BAGEL's brand concept. Moving forward, our company will continue to develop environmentally friendly paper materials and new materials derived from wood, contributing to a sustainable society. MARUICHI BAGEL is a bakery that offers authentic New York-style bagels made from carefully selected ingredients and unique methods, gaining support from many bagel fans. Antibacterial sheet using OPP film 'Calfresh' that suppresses bacterial growth with the power of scallops.
Hattori Co., Ltd. declares its motto as "Creating products that are kind to people and the Earth" and aims to contribute to initiatives that enhance the attractiveness of local living through the achievement of the SDGs and pass it on to the next generation. One of the environmentally friendly products they handle is our Calfresh, which has been adopted for use as an antibacterial sheet for bento boxes. It has been recognized for utilizing scallop shells that would otherwise be treated as waste, suppressing bacterial growth, and contributing to the reduction of food loss, aligning with their SDGs initiatives. It is also used by bento chain stores and is available for sale online. Calfresh is an OPP film blended with fine powder from scallop shells. The film surface becomes alkaline due to moisture from food, which suppresses bacterial growth. This is the first time this product has been adopted for use as an antibacterial sheet.

Announcement of the development of the agricultural paper mulch sheet "OJI Sustainable Mulch."
Oji Eftex Co., Ltd. has developed the "OJI Sustainamult," an agricultural paper mulch sheet that is designed to reduce work burden and is environmentally friendly, primarily made from cellulose. There is a growing concern that agricultural film mulches can break down into microplastics over time and flow from rivers into the ocean, leading to a demand for paper mulches that decompose in the soil. Currently, many farmers use polyethylene mulch sheets, but they face the heavy labor of removing the mulch after harvest, drying it, and disposing of it as industrial waste. Additionally, the rising costs of industrial waste disposal have increased the burden on farmers. The "OJI Sustainamult" can be tilled into the soil after harvest, where it decomposes, eliminating the need for removal and disposal costs. Furthermore, while crops are growing, it can suppress soil temperature increases compared to polyethylene mulch sheets, reducing the risk of root rot due to heat, making it particularly suitable for crops grown in the summer. *News Release http://www.ojif-tex.co.jp/images/231204news_oji-sustaina-mulch.pdf
