Non-woven water-repellent sound-absorbing material
It's pulp, but it doesn't absorb water!?
Remarkably, we have developed a water-repellent sound-absorbing material made of pulp non-woven fabric that completely floats on water and even rises when pressed down with a finger. This sound-absorbing material, characterized by its almost non-existent water absorption, is made from a porous material called "airlaid based on pulp." It is ideal for areas where water absorption is not acceptable. Specifically, it is suitable for sound-absorbing materials covering components that may condense or in environments with high humidity. Our manufacturing method uses pulp as the main raw material to create a porous structure with a high bulk and void ratio that absorbs sound. Among porous sound-absorbing materials, the surface of natural pulp not only has a special structure called microfibrils but also, due to its hollow structure, secures air layers within the fibers, which is expected to provide unique sound-absorbing effects different from other materials.
basic information
It is a water-repellent sound-absorbing material with almost no water absorption. - Excellent sound-absorbing properties unique to pulp fibers - Environmentally friendly pulp-based fibers - Does not absorb water even with a pulp base (effective in condensation areas) - Contains antibacterial and anti-mold agents - Sound insulation can also be added (rubber lamination) Comparison of sound absorption rates (1,000–6,300 Hz) with synthetic resin-based porous sound-absorbing materials: At the same thickness, it is about three times more effective compared to polyurethane foam! For equivalent sound absorption, it is nearly half the thickness compared to felt and other companies' special non-woven fabrics! 【Product Specifications】 Surface layer: Polyester non-woven fabric Intermediate layer: Pulp fibers and polyester synthetic fibers Bottom layer: Polyester non-woven fabric Thickness: 5mm to 10mm (please consult for thicknesses other than those listed) Shape: Raw sheet, width 610mm × length 800mm (please consult for sheet length) Raw material roll: Width 600mm × length 50m (5mm product only) (Please consult for roll product width, roll length, slit width, and roll length) We have a catalog available. Announcement of Joint Exhibition by Prince Tack and Prince Kinocross at the "New Functional Materials Exhibition 2026" (January 28 (Wed) - 30 (Fri), 2026)
From January 28 (Wednesday) to January 30, 2026, "New Functional Materials Exhibition 2026" will be held at Tokyo Big Sight, where Oji Tack Co., Ltd. and Oji Kinocross Co., Ltd. will exhibit. Oji Tack, as a comprehensive manufacturer of adhesive and processed material products such as tack for seals and labels, tapes, processed paper, and processed films, will introduce products and new items in five categories: "Paper-based and biodegradable tack as an alternative to film," "Special adhesive tack contributing to recycling and waste reduction," "Recyclable film and reduced plastic film tack," "Enhanced functional tack," and "Environmentally friendly processed products." Oji Kinocross, a pioneer manufacturer of airlaid nonwoven fabric made primarily from pulp, will propose a wide range of materials from environmentally friendly to functional. In this exhibition, we will showcase a variety of materials and experiential displays, including "Water-soluble and biodegradable nonwoven fabric," "Upcycle-compatible nonwoven fabric," "Pulp-based sound-absorbing materials," "Nonwoven fabric for cosmetic applications," and "Powder sheet technology." At the venue, you can actually see the characteristics and functionalities of each material. We invite you to experience the new value that these materials bring. When you visit, please be sure to stop by the Oji Tack and Oji Kinocross booths.
