Strengthening of Regulatory Measures - Part 4 - 'Isn't the use of food waste as animal feed prohibited?' The heating treatment standards for feed made from food waste have been strengthened since April 2021. [High-quality food waste dryer: Okadora Cyclone Dryer]
Isn't the use of food waste as animal feed prohibited? Feeding pigs with food waste that includes insufficiently heated meat is said to be one of the main transmission routes for serious livestock infectious diseases. Many countries abroad have a complete ban on this, and even in areas where it is allowed, strict heating standards are imposed. On the other hand, in Japan, in order to improve feed self-sufficiency and realize a circular society, it has been decided to continue the use of food waste as animal feed, provided that a system is established to properly implement heating treatments that align with international standards. The use of food waste as animal feed involves many companies and organizations, not only in the livestock industry but also in food manufacturing, food sales, the restaurant industry, and the hospitality industry. Regardless of the amount of waste produced, enhanced heating treatment can be easily handled in small quantities with the Okadora Cyclone Dryer. For more details on this information, please refer to the attached document "Q&A on the Review of Regulations Regarding the Use of Food Waste as Animal Feed." Strengthening of Regulatory Measures - Part 2 - "Key Points for Reviewing Standards" Heat treatment standards for feed utilizing food waste have been strengthened since April 2021. 【High-Quality Dryer for Food Residues: Okadora Cyclone Dryer】
There are three key points in the review of the standards. 1. Institutionalization The regulations will now be established by ministerial ordinance instead of guidelines. - Strictening of heating targets and heating standards - Mandatory record creation and storage - Setting the scope of penal provisions 2. Application of international standards - Clarification of the range of food residues subject to heat treatment, etc. - Setting conditions for heat treatment (stirring while maintaining a temperature of 90°C or higher for more than 60 minutes, or equivalent treatment) - Measures to prevent recontamination 3. Exceptional measures for livestock feed other than pigs - Other livestock feeds produced without distinction from pig feed and pig feed manufacturing lines will be subject to this revision. For more details on this information, please refer to the attached document "Q&A on the Review of Regulations Regarding the Use of Food Residues as Feed." "Okadora Cyclone Dryer," a vertical dryer that does not generate dust, allowing for improved hygiene and aesthetics in the factory and enabling long-term operation.
The Okadora Cyclone Dryer does not require carrier gas (carrier air) for drying waste. Therefore, most of the evaporated steam from the dried material condenses into water when cooled, and it does not release waste gas. Additionally, there is no need for a dust collector, and the condensed water comes out as clear water. As a result, there is no dust generation at the installation site of the dryer, which eliminates the risk of negative impacts on the working environment and contributes to the cleanliness of the factory. This leads to stable operation of the equipment over a long period. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For drying various types of waste such as sludge, waste alkali, waste acid, plant and animal residues, waste liquids, and food residues, choose the Okadora Cyclone Dryer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The reason we have over 400 units in operation nationwide is our unique technology called Boil Drying. The Okadra Cyclone Dryer is a one-of-a-kind vertical dryer that does more than just dry.
When you want to remove moisture from an object, you consider the method of "drying." "Drying squid to make dried squid" is also one method of drying. This method evaporates moisture from the object but does not remove the moisture inside the cell membranes. Okadora's dryer uses a unique "boil drying" method that destroys the cell membranes and dries the moisture inside as well. Therefore, it is possible to recycle food waste into high-quality feed materials. <Examples of Drying> - Scallop innards - Squid innards - Pig blood (from slaughterhouses) - Food waste (from hotel kitchens, food manufacturing plant waste) - Organic sludge (dewatered sludge, concentrated sludge) - Digestate sludge (liquid fertilizer, biogas power generation) *For more details, please download the PDF from the related products/related catalog below or feel free to contact us.
