The DURAFLEX® friction cup supports the transportation of automotive batteries that have completed washing and inspection to the end of a conveyor belt system in a pick-and-place system for a major automotive battery manufacturer in Italy. Since the batteries are wet after the washing cycle, it is very difficult to lift and handle them. Piab's friction cup ensures maximum safety in the process by providing gripping that is effective regardless of the type of battery. ■ DURAFLEX® Friction Cup It is made from a special material that combines the elasticity of rubber with the strength of polyurethane. This material leaves minimal marks on the workpiece and retains excellent elastic memory even after hundreds of thousands of cycles. It is ideal for handling surfaces that are oily, wet, or dry. Typically, it withstands shear forces that are 3 to 5 times higher than those of conventional suction cups, providing excellent adhesion regardless of direction.
