MEP HyperCel resin has a unique mixed-mode or hybrid-mode separation mechanism that differs from traditional ion exchange and affinity mechanisms, making it particularly effective as a replacement for conventional HIC. Using MEP HyperCel at process scale offers significant advantages. Unlike traditional HIC, MEP HyperCel resin does not require the addition of large amounts of salt to promote protein binding, which simplifies process operations, reduces labor for unit operations (such as dialysis filtration and ultrafiltration), and improves the economic efficiency of the process. MEP HyperCel resin possesses selectivity for immunoglobulins due to its ligand structure. It can be used in combination with other methods such as cation exchange and HIC for the direct capture and intermediate purification of IgG from various raw materials. Furthermore, it can be used after capture via Protein A affinity to facilitate the removal of DNA, HCP (host cell proteins), and aggregates.
