Teflon packing seal
Teflon packing seal
Teflon seals (packing and gaskets) refer to components applied in sealing that are based on fluororesin as the primary material. Their performance is excellent in heat and cold resistance, and they are not affected by various fluids (liquids and gases) such as general chemical agents and solvents, making them usable under harsh conditions from vacuum to high pressure. Additionally, their non-stick and low-friction properties make them suitable for moving applications, and their ability to be used as seals for extended periods is one of their significant features. However, they are prone to wear and can easily deform (creep) under high temperature and high pressure, so it is common to use fillers such as fiberglass, molybdenum disulfide, graphite, and carbon fiber to mitigate these effects. In design, attention is needed regarding the structure of the device, surface treatment and hardening of sliding parts, and the structure and material selection of the seals (packing and gaskets).
