YouTube Video: Selection of DSC Sample Pans and Sample Preparation
To successfully measure DSC, it is important to choose the appropriate pan and lid according to the sample and purpose!
We are explaining on YouTube about the selection of sample pans and sample preparation for effectively measuring with the TA Instruments Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC). < Differential Scanning Calorimeter DSC > It measures temperature transitions in materials along with associated thermal temperatures and heat flow. Common applications include research, quality control, and the investigation, selection, comparison, and performance evaluation of materials for manufacturing purposes. The characteristics measured by TA Instruments' DSC technology include glass transition, cold crystallization, phase changes, melting, crystallization, product stability, curing/curing reaction rates, and oxidation stability. The Tzero DSC technology recently developed by TA Instruments is an innovative and highly accurate method for measuring heat flow. It significantly improves baseline flatness, transition resolution, and sensitivity. With Tzero technology, direct measurement of heat capacity becomes possible, and Modulated DSC measurements are faster and more accurate.
basic information
<Selection of Pans for Measurement> TA Instruments offers a variety of pans suitable for diverse experiments. You can choose the material and shape of the pan according to measurement conditions and sample characteristics, such as measurement temperature range, pressure range, and the composition or reactivity of the sample. ☆ Aluminum pans have high thermal conductivity, are inert, and are low-cost. They are the most commonly used. For measurements below 600°C, if the sample does not react with aluminum, we recommend starting with aluminum pans. ☆ For measurements above 600°C, pans made of copper, gold, platinum, or graphite can be used. The choice of pan material can be determined based on the reactivity with the sample and measurement atmosphere. ☆ The Tzero series improves resolution, sensitivity, enthalpy, and heat capacity reproducibility due to its excellent bottom flatness. ☆ The Standard series is suitable for general measurements, balancing performance and cost.
