Analysis case: Evaluation of the mechanical properties of the pericardium using a planar biaxial testing machine.
This is an introduction to medical-related analysis cases by a specialist in analysis. This time, we will present measurement cases of mechanical properties and fatigue tests that are useful for evaluating the pericardium.
The planar biaxial testing machine (TestBench testing device) is designed to conduct tests similar to those performed on a load frame. This allows for the evaluation of the sample's stiffness, strength, and durability, as well as the measurement of yield strength, ultimate strength, and fatigue life. A modular approach that includes multi-channel and multi-axis options enables a wide range of configurations and performance. It uses 200N and 400N ElectroForce linear motors mounted on a horizontal base plate to accommodate various testing needs.
basic information
This time, TA Instruments introduces the "ElectroForce Series," a fatigue testing machine. In this article, we will present a case study on the evaluation of the mechanical properties of pericardium using a planar biaxial testing machine, related to cell culture and medical applications. ❖ Evaluation of the Mechanical Properties of Pericardium Using a Planar Biaxial Testing Machine The pericardial tissue was attached to the planar biaxial testing machine, and equal displacements were applied to each axis to measure the load. It was found that the load at a larger displacement was greater on the 90° axis than on the 0° axis, indicating that the mechanical properties of the measured pericardial tissue exhibit anisotropy. ■ Load Capacity: 200N, 400N ■ Motor: ElectroForce Linear Motor ■ Displacement Range: 13mm ■ Control Functions: Load, Displacement, Strain Control ■ Mounting Options: Horizontal or Vertical ■ Accessories: Physiological Saline Bath, Multi-Axis Load Options ■ Test Profiles: Single push-to-failure, pull-to-failure, repetitive loading, creep/stress relaxation measurement
