Tank trucks are one of the most common and efficient means for chemical manufacturers to transport liquid and gaseous chemicals to industrial production facilities. Chemicals can be corrosive, explosive, flammable, or toxic. If hazardous chemicals leak, they can cause long-term damage to people and the environment. However, being human, tank truck drivers and storage tank operators inevitably make mistakes or become distracted during unloading. An analysis of over 1,600 hazardous chemical incidents revealed that 65% of these accidents were due to human error. With the maturation of deep learning technology, AI-enabled machine vision solutions such as IP surveillance cameras and industrial smart cameras have become capable of monitoring the entire chemical unloading process and detecting anomalies before human accidents occur. Combining IP surveillance cameras with AI network video recorders (NVRs) provides installation flexibility, but transmission delays remain an unresolved issue.
