Applied AlphaFold2 recommended model
Recommended model for protein structure prediction software AlphaFold2.
AlphaFold2 is an AI-based protein structure prediction model developed by Google DeepMind that predicts high-accuracy three-dimensional structures from amino acid sequences. Its ability to significantly reduce time and costs compared to traditional X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy is innovative. It demonstrated overwhelming accuracy in CASP14 in 2020, achieving a GDT score of over 90 for about two-thirds of proteins. By utilizing deep learning and integrating evolutionary information and known structural data, it improves prediction accuracy. In 2021, the source code was made public, making it accessible to anyone. It is being increasingly used in various fields such as drug discovery, elucidation of disease mechanisms, and environmental science.
