The FlowCam series is a particle image analysis system that combines digital imaging technology with optical microscopy technology. It captures high-speed images of microparticles in solution through an optical microscope and performs automatic analysis in real-time. When a sample is flowed through a rectangular microchannel (depth: 20–100 μm), multiple sensors arranged within the channel measure the pressure. When the measurements and positions of each sensor are graphed, they form a straight line. It is generally known that the slope of this line is proportional to viscosity, and viscosity is calculated from that slope.
