Examples of the use of KNF pumps in biogas treatment systems.
Biogas is an important pillar for the energy industry in aiming for a sustainable future. Biogas produced from various organic materials such as corn stalks and liquid fertilizers is a carbon-neutral fuel since it does not use fossil fuels. However, this promising energy source also has technical challenges that require cutting-edge solutions. This involves several steps where pumps play a fundamental role, and KNF is pleased to provide the ideal technology. There are multiple challenges in the transport and compression of biogas. The raw biogas emitted from bioreactors is usually fully saturated with water and contains impurities and about 40% carbon dioxide (CO2). Furthermore, this gas is flammable and must not be released into the atmosphere as it is a potent greenhouse gas. Due to these characteristics, pumps that are highly airtight, do not affect the integrity of the medium, and can easily handle various chemicals and condensate are required.

Method for recovering noble gases using a diaphragm pump.
Noble gases such as helium, neon, and argon are essential in a wide range of industries and scientific research. From aerospace applications to the semiconductor industry, their unique properties bring significant benefits. The recovery of noble gases not only helps protect natural resources but also reduces the environmental impact of their production. By recovering and reusing these gases, the industry can minimize waste and reduce dependence on new gas sources, contributing not only to economic benefits but also to overall sustainability. Two-stage diaphragm pumps like the KNF N630.15 series are particularly advantageous for the recovery of noble gases. They combine efficient and reliable performance under harsh conditions with flexibility to accommodate a wide range of capacities, pressures, and gas compositions. Additionally, their compact design and inherent gas-tightness minimize gas leakage while providing high versatility and customizability for applications ranging from small to large scale. To ensure this, these pumps undergo additional helium leak testing before shipment.

Explosion-proof certification in Japan - Explosion-proof gas pump
The explosion-proof gas pumps of the N87 series and N922 series, which have received positive feedback for sampling combustible gases and gas transfer, have passed the explosion-proof structure electrical equipment type certification in Japan. Against the backdrop of initiatives such as the "2050 Carbon Neutral Declaration," applications handling combustible gases, including methanation and hydrogen gas utilization, are increasing daily, and practical demonstration experiments are actively being conducted. KNF offers a wide range of explosion-proof gas pumps certified with IECEX / ATEX that are suitable for combustible gases, including hydrogen gas, and many customers are already using them. In response to the demand for explosion-proof certified products in Japan, we have obtained explosion-proof certification for two models of compact gas pumps.
