Polarimeter

Easily and accurately measure the internal stress (strain) of glass products and plastic products.

A polarimeter is a device that uses the polarization of light to measure the phase difference between two beams of light that occur when light passes through a distorted object, allowing us to determine the state and magnitude of the distortion.

basic information

This machine is used for the manufacturing of glass and plastic containers, including the production of transmission and reception tubes, image tubes, and glass plates, and it can also be used for photoelastic experiments. The striped patterns observed in the field of view of the orthogonal Nicol indicate the positions where strains of the same magnitude (rotating phase difference plates) or integer multiples of the wavelength of the light being used occur. By rotating the phase difference plate (or polarizing plate), the striped patterns move, allowing for continuous knowledge of the distribution of strains.
