The "GSM" series is designed to ash samples that are adversely affected by the contamination of dust from materials such as alumina and silica, which are used as insulation materials in the furnace. The inner walls of the furnace are made of fused quartz. The fused quartz lining contains vapors of corrosive substances such as sulfuric acid, nitric acid, and hydrochloric acid, protecting the heating elements.
