Installed in the remote hand station (RHS) and electric actuator wastewater treatment plant.
Rotork's electric actuators control the sluice gates at a sewage treatment plant (STP) in Australia. The third-generation IQ multi-turn electric actuators are installed on eight sluice gates, regulating the flow of sewage entering the sewage treatment plant in Murrumba Downs, a suburb in Queensland, Australia. The end user, Unitywater, chose Rotork products to automate the opening and closing of the sluice gates. Previously, operators had to use stairs to approach the gates and operate them manually. To enhance safety on site, several IQ3 actuators installed at the Murrumba Downs site were equipped with RHS, allowing workers to operate the valves safely from the field. The RHS features the same display and control interface as the IQ3, enabling operation and configuration from up to 100 meters away from the actuator. It can supply 24VDC power from the connected actuator, eliminating the need for an auxiliary power source. Additionally, the RHS can be mounted on columns or walls.

A CVL linear actuator will be installed at Didcot B power station.
Rotork recently installed the CVL linear actuator for control valves at the Didcot B power station (a power plant supplying electricity to the National Grid) and conducted commissioning adjustments. The Rotork CVL1500 and CVL5000 actuators control the supply of injection water used as emergency cooling water when the steam turbine trips. The CVL actuators were installed as part of a project to improve equipment reliability and address the aging of older plants. The CVL actuators are linear models of the electric actuators for process control, known as CVA. This CVL model operates on single-phase or DC power, providing very precise and responsive continuous adjustments of the control valve. By replacing existing actuators with the CVL, reliability has improved, and maintenance costs have been reduced. This unit enables highly accurate flow control with a resolution of over 0.1% and can also perform repeatable position control using a 4-20mA signal. The thrust of the CVL ranges from 890 N to 22,241 N (200 to 5,000 lbf).

Rotork's electric actuators and pneumatic actuators contribute to the drinking water supply in German cities.
To provide fresh drinking water to regional communities in Germany, Rotork's electric actuators and pneumatic actuators have been installed. 39 GT (pneumatic piston actuators) and 13 CK (modular electric actuators) have been supplied to Stadtwerke Lohr Am Main and are being used in two municipal water treatment facilities that supply water to the town of Lohr am Main and its surrounding areas in Bavaria. The GT and CK were installed in separate plants. At these two sites, water is sourced from six springs and two deep wells, and processed at seven water treatment facilities. The GT and CK are installed on 2 to 12-inch butterfly valves and gate valves, driving the shut-off valves in the water channels of the plants, facilitating filtration, storage, and supply. The treated water is stored in underground reservoirs and supplied through a 180 km pipeline network. Rotork's open network and consulting by specialized personnel were key factors in reaching the contract. Additionally, the functionality, reliability, and durability of the actuators, as well as the modular structure of the CK, were also considered important factors.

The rotary actuators play an important safety role in the Turkish subway.
Rotolock has installed over 150 RC200 pneumatic actuators in the fire dampers' valves of the Turkish subway. (Note: Fire dampers are safety products installed inside railway tunnels to prevent the spread of flames and smoke, closing during a fire to prevent flames and smoke from reaching the railway tunnel.) The RC200 is a compact pneumatic actuator equipped with a Scotch-Yoke mechanism, performing ESD or isolation functions. It was chosen for its fast operating speed and long-term use with minimal maintenance, utilizing a spring-return design. The actuators in the RC range can operate normally even in high-temperature environments ranging from 0 °C to +150 °C. In this case, a high-temperature model capable of withstanding 250 °C for 2 hours and an additional hour at 400 °C was selected. The RC pneumatic actuators operate at such high temperatures without affecting the exterior fireproof coating. This actuator has obtained ATEX 2014/34/EU certification.

Rotolock collaborates with FDNY to contribute to the safety of New York City.
The fireboats used by the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) Marine Firefighting Division employ Rotork's IQ range 90° rotation electric actuators to maintain the city's safety. The 90° rotation IQ actuators are used on two fireboats, "Firefighter 2" and "Firefighter 343." The IQ plays a crucial role in controlling the water flow to the deck's firefighting water spray nozzles, which is essential during emergencies. New York is one of the busiest port cities in the world, with a coastline extending 560 miles. For many years, the FDNY has addressed firefighting-related incidents on land and at sea using fireboats. The fireboats draw water from the river, and the actuators control the flow of water supplied to the firefighting water spray nozzles, allowing the fireboats to access an unlimited water supply even in emergencies. It is very important to constantly manage the water flow supplied to the spray nozzles. The IQ actuators were installed due to the failure of existing electric actuators. The IQ actuators are not only waterproof but also feature a double seal structure with an IP66/68 rating (withstanding depths of 7 meters for 72 hours).

Installed Rotork electric actuators in the glass factory, contributing to improved reliability and reduced emissions.
In a glass factory in Turkey, the installation of Rotork's electric actuators has achieved improved combustion efficiency and reduced emissions. Thirty-three ROMpak electric actuators have been installed at a glass factory in the Mersin region of southern Turkey (operated by Şişecam). The ROMpak actuators have been installed to replace the existing actuators for operating butterfly valves, controlling the flow of hot air at the center of the glass manufacturing process. For complete and efficient combustion, it is necessary to control the air-fuel ratio in the furnace to be leaner than the theoretical air-fuel ratio, allowing for dilute combustion. Complete combustion leads to reduced running costs and minimizes fuel waste, contributing to the reduction of emissions and environmental pollutants. The control provided by Rotork's ROMpak supports the optimization of essential processes. The ROMpak actuators reliably and quietly control small ball valves and butterfly valves. ROMpak is equipped with a continuous opening degree indicator that can be used at all times and in ambient temperatures up to +70°C. The waterproof and dustproof rating of ROMpak is IP68 (for 100 hours at a depth of 10 meters).

The SPI of the rotor torque reliably displays the opening degree of the manual valve without interruption.
Rotolock has released the SPI Smart Position Indicator, making significant improvements in robustness, reliability, and accuracy. By installing the SPI, it is possible to monitor any valve within the refining plant from the control center, leading to improved operational control accuracy. The SPI features a large digital display, allowing for the verification of valve opening on-site. It also includes one to two built-in switches or sensors for remote display. Furthermore, it is completely sealed in an aluminum housing, accurately outputting the valve position signal. For large valves with a gearbox, the installation position of the SPI is at the input flange of the gearbox. For small valves, it can be directly mounted on the valve, and for stem rising valves, an optional thrust base is also available. The SPI uses the same ISO5210 valve mounting as electric actuators, which is more robust than traditional arm types. The SPI has an environmental resistance rating equivalent to IP67, and as a sister version, we offer an IECEx/ATEX explosion-proof unit for hazardous locations.

Released a new master station for valve actuator control.
The Rotork master station can operate up to 240 actuators across three different field networks. This allows for the optimal use of networks even when multiple plants are located in separate areas. The new master station has also been made compatible with Modbus RTU networks, enabling connections to third-party products. The network of the master station can be made redundant through hot standby, so if one unit encounters an error, control can continue with another unit. All network communications are fault-tolerant, allowing for the continued operation of the plant even in the event of a failure. During the installation of the master station, twisted pair shielded cables are used, making it cost-effective and simple. Additionally, it can control devices located up to 20 km away without the need for external repeaters, further saving on labor costs, installation expenses, and commissioning adjustment costs. Rotork's master station can be easily integrated into existing equipment and can control all types of drive devices, including those from other manufacturers.
