Risk assessment of chemical substances and establishment of an autonomous management system.

Responding to the revision of the Labor Safety and Health Act. Supporting the transition from traditional regulations to a "self-managed system" that promotes exposure reduction driven by the workplace.

Amid the increasing number of tens of thousands of chemical substances with unknown risks and hazards circulating domestically, labor safety and health regulations are undergoing a significant transformation. With a complete shift from traditional uniform legal regulations to a "self-regulatory management system" where businesses conduct their own risk assessments (RA) and minimize the concentration of substances to which workers are exposed, proactive efforts have become more mandatory than ever before. The requirements to be covered are extremely diverse, including regular updates of SDS notification items, strengthened measures for storage in separate containers, exposure reduction measures based on RA results, and the preservation of work records for carcinogenic substances. Additionally, updates are needed for routine management of the work environment, such as revisions to office hygiene standards that involve lowering illumination criteria. The full text of the article explaining how to promote self-regulatory management in response to legal amendments, the establishment of implementation systems, and special exceptions for relaxing the frequency of health examinations based on work environment evaluations is included in the catalog.
