Case Study on the Introduction of NMR Pipe Protectors at Buckingham Palace, UK - Part 2
◆Background of the Introduction of NMR Pipe Protectors at Buckingham Palace In addition to the Queen's private rooms, the palace includes offices, meeting rooms, the administrative headquarters of the royal household, a museum, and a ballroom, serving as a venue for official duties and accommodations for foreign leaders. Therefore, the presence of red water from the British royal palace's bathrooms and toilets is certainly not something that reflects well on the monarchy. The impetus for Buckingham Palace to introduce NMR pipe protectors came from Harrods, a long-established department store that is a royal warrant holder. In March 2006, NMR pipe protectors were urgently introduced as a countermeasure against red water, and within 1.5 months, the occurrence of red water was completely halted. Following this result, Harrods' executives introduced NMR pipe protectors to Windsor Castle, which was also facing issues with red rust. In November 2006, NMR pipe protectors were installed in the Queen's Tower, where Her Majesty the Queen stayed every weekend, and the reddish-brown water transformed into clear water after 42 days, concluding the verification. As a result of this, NMR pipe protectors were introduced at Buckingham Palace, which was also experiencing red rust issues. Next time, I will discuss the results of the introduced NMR pipe protectors!

Introduction of the case study for the adoption of "NMR Pipe Protector" - NMRPT - at the City Hall of London, UK - Part 2.
What is the NMR Pipe Protector that is also being implemented at the Guildhall in London? The NMR Pipe Protector is a rust prevention device for piping that has been on the market for over 25 years. It has been installed in many important buildings, with over 4,200 buildings equipped as of 2020. The NMR Pipe Protector has the effect of reducing red rust to black rust, and while both are types of rust, black rust has properties that strengthen the piping, making it beneficial for the pipes. As a result, the piping can continue to be used without replacement until the building's lifespan ends. Black rust has been utilized for a long time, being used in southern iron kettles and in nails and hinges of shrines and temples. Additionally, there is no concern that black rust will dissolve in water like red rust. The NMR Pipe Protector also works to prevent the growth of bacteria that cause water stains and slime. In regular pipe cleaning, bacteria will reappear after 2 to 3 years, but with the installation of the NMR Pipe Protector, this will no longer be necessary. The installation is also simple and can be done without cutting off the water supply, which is another recommended point. Next time, I will talk about the results achieved by the NMR Pipe Protector when it was implemented at the London City Hall!

Introduction of the "NMR Pipe Protector" - NMRPT - at the large-scale medical facility "Kumamoto Red Cross Hospital" - Case Study Part 1
At Kumamoto Prefectural's largest hospital, "Kumamoto Red Cross Hospital," the "NMR Pipe Protector" - NMRPT - is making a significant impact. The Kumamoto Red Cross Hospital, which introduced the NMR Pipe Protector, is a historic hospital established in 1944. Operated by the Kumamoto branch of the Japanese Red Cross Society, it boasts the largest area among hospitals in Kumamoto Prefecture, currently offering 30 medical departments and 490 beds. Designated as a disaster base hospital for Kumamoto Prefecture, it plays a crucial role in supporting healthcare in the region by providing high-quality cancer treatment and medical care for mothers and children before and after childbirth. The fundamental philosophy of Kumamoto Red Cross Hospital is to be close to people and society through medical care and relief, based on the spirit of the Red Cross, which encompasses three core elements: "humanity, impartiality, and service." This philosophy serves as a guiding principle for patient care, emphasizing respect for patients' personalities, ethical views, and perspectives on life and death, as well as a strong commitment to building trust. In the next installment, we will explain the aging issue of the water pipes at Kumamoto Red Cross Hospital, which led to the decision to introduce the NMR Pipe Protector. Please stay tuned.

Introduction of the "NMR Pipe Protector" - NMRPT - at the large-scale medical facility "Kumamoto Red Cross Hospital" - Case Study Part 2
◆Concerns about Red Rust Deterioration in Pipes at Kumamoto Red Cross Hospital and Countermeasures If the pipes are deteriorating, problems such as red water and leaks may occur. The cause of this is red rust inside the pipes. Red rust is characterized by its rapid progression and its tendency to dissolve easily in water. The issue with red water is that it is difficult to notice its presence at an early stage. When thinking of red water, one might imagine water stained red, but in reality, even if red rust mixes with tap water, it does not easily change color. Another problem is "leakage." As red rust gradually flows into the water, it erodes the threaded parts and walls inside the pipes, leading to leaks when it reaches the outside. In medical facilities, leaks can lead to malfunctions of medical equipment and are also undesirable from a hygiene perspective. The occurrence of red rust also poses the risk of "red rust blockage," which can lead to poor water flow. Therefore, maintenance of water pipes has always been a concern at Kumamoto Red Cross Hospital. The NMR Pipe Protector addresses such issues. In the next installment, which will be the final one, we will introduce how Kumamoto Red Cross Hospital resolved these problems through the introduction of the NMR Pipe Protector.

Case study of NMR pipe protector installation at Lions Mansion Koshigaya North - Final installment.
Lions Mansion Koshigaya North introduced the NMR Pipe Protector in November 2010, resulting in a successful pipe rehabilitation at one-third of the initial estimate. This allowed for effective use of the repair reserve fund for LED lighting upgrades and elevator renovations. According to Mr. Kitazawa, who was the chairman at the time of the NMR Pipe Protector's introduction, an endoscopic survey conducted six years later in 2016 showed no growth of red rust. On the contrary, there was a noticeable reduction in the volume of red rust, indicating progress towards black rust. The NMR Pipe Protector sold by Japan System Planning Co., Ltd. has the property of reducing red rust to black rust by supplying free electrons from water, which leads to a decrease in the volume of red rust and improvement in red rust blockage. Additionally, the inside of the pipes is protected by a strong black rust coating, contributing to the rehabilitation of the pipes. This high anti-corrosion performance has been highly regarded, leading to an increase in the adoption of the NMR Pipe Protector. By implementing the NMR Pipe Protector, maintenance costs for the piping can be significantly reduced, allowing the remaining budget to be allocated to other building facilities.

Case Study of NMR Pipe Protector Installation at Lions Mansion Koshigaya North - Part 2
According to Mr. Kitazawa, who was the chairman at the time of the introduction of the NMR Pipe Protector, it was pointed out that there was red rust occurring at the joints of the water supply pipes during the recent inspection. Therefore, when the board of directors began to consider methods for rehabilitating the pipes, the following options were immediately suggested: 1. Ozone cleaning 2. Citric acid cleaning 3. Electrolytic corrosion prevention 4. Lining method However, when a board member proposed the NMR Pipe Protector, which he had seen in an advertisement on the train, it was determined to be superior to the aforementioned four methods, and the introduction of the NMR Pipe Protector was positively considered. "The idea at the time was that if the current red rust turns into black rust over 40 years with the NMR Pipe Protector, theoretically, the pipes could last an additional 20 to 30 years, totaling 60 to 70 years. In other words, it was calculated that they could last until the lifespan of the building," the board decided to implement it. Once it turns into black rust, scientifically, red rust corrosion does not progress any further, and the volume of red rust itself also shrinks. Additionally, the effectiveness guarantee of the NMR Pipe Protector further supported its introduction. Next time, I will summarize and discuss the rust prevention effects of the NMR Pipe Protector at Lions Mansion Koshigaya North! Please continue to enjoy!

"NMR Pipe Protector" - NMRPT - adopted by the Royal Garden Hotel (5 stars), representing the UK - Series Part 2 -
◆Reasons for Introducing NMR Pipe Protectors The Royal Garden Hotel was built in 1965, and by the time the NMR Pipe Protectors were introduced in 2007, it had been 42 years since its construction. Due to the deterioration of the hot water supply pipes, relatively dark red water was coming out every morning when turning on the faucet. Additionally, there was constant leakage from the joints of the pipes. Estimates indicated that updating (replacing) the pipes would cost between £6.5 to £7 million (approximately 1 billion yen), including compensation for business interruption. However, it was found that by introducing the NMR Pipe Protectors, the cost could be reduced to £150,000 (approximately 25 million yen), allowing for a remarkable cost reduction to about 1/40 of the original estimate, leading to the decision to implement them. The NMR Pipe Protector utilizes hydration electrons (free electrons in water) to reduce red rust inside the pipes to black rust, which completely prevents the occurrence of red rust with its black rust film. Black rust has been used in southern iron kettles, Chinese woks, and nails or hinges in temples from the Nara and Heian periods, preventing red rust for hundreds of years. By converting all red rust inside the pipes to black rust, the lifespan of the pipes can be significantly extended. Next time, we will introduce the performance of the NMR Pipe Protectors implemented at the Royal Garden Hotel London! Stay tuned for more!

Extending the life of piping with 'NMR Pipe Protector' - NMRPT - Coop Nomura Minami Ishikiri (42 years old)
Co-op Nomura Minami Ishikiri, located in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, is a three-story, 24-unit apartment building built in 1978. In August 2001, during its 23rd year, a pipe protector was installed, and it is now 42 years old. Takashi Furuta, the maintenance director who conducted the interview, stated, "Thanks to the rust prevention effect of the NMR Pipe Protector, both the water supply and drainage pipes have been extended in their lifespan, and there are currently no plans for pipe replacement in the long-term repair plan." ◆ Effect of the NMR Pipe Protector on Extending Pipe Lifespan After 16 years of having the NMR Pipe Protector installed, Co-op Nomura Minami Ishikiri conducted a deterioration diagnosis survey of the pipes. It was found that there was almost no red rust deterioration in both the water supply and drainage pipes, and the red rust surface had turned into black rust, confirming the rehabilitation of the pipes. Black rust does not dissolve in water at all and has been used historically in items like Chinese woks. Its small volume improves the blockage caused by red rust, protecting the pipes until the building's lifespan ends. The installation of the pipe protector has eliminated dirt such as limescale and slime, resulting in a 30% reduction in the frequency of drainage pipe cleaning. Furuta mentioned that the amount of red rust discharged during drainage pipe cleaning has also drastically decreased. Additionally, he noted that trust in the NMR Pipe Protector has increased based on the results of the deterioration diagnosis survey of the 40-year-old pipes.

No red rust issues with air conditioning chilled water and cooling water pipes after 55 years using the 'NMR Pipe Protector' - NMRPT.
The "Yaesu Exit Hall" in Marunouchi, Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo (built 55 years ago as of 2020) had an NMR pipe protector installed in its air conditioning chilled and hot water piping and cooling water piping five years ago in 2015, when it was 50 years old. We conducted verification to prevent red rust deterioration in the cooling water piping and to extend the life of the piping. Before the installation of the NMR pipe protector, the iron content in the circulating cooling water was 11 mg/l, significantly exceeding the industrial standard of 1 mg/l, confirming the occurrence of red rust. One week after the installation of the NMR pipe protector, the iron content in the same water dropped to less than 0.1 mg/l, significantly reducing it and completely preventing red rust in the piping, while confirming the transformation of red rust to black rust. For the past five years since then, the occurrence of red rust has been completely prevented.

Case Study on the Introduction of NMR Pipe Protectors at Whittington Hospital, UK - Part 2
Whittington Hospital, having been built in the 1860s, was experiencing significant deterioration of its buildings. The hot water piping had not been updated for about 30 to 40 years since the last renovation, and every morning, red water was emerging from the piping in the minor surgery room, management room, and sterile room. If this continued, the risk of clogs and leaks due to corrosion in the water pipes would be high. To address this issue, the NMR Pipe Protector was introduced. The NMR Pipe Protector is a device that prevents the formation of red rust inside the pipes and reduces existing red rust to black rust. The NMR Pipe Protector has been on the market for over 25 years, and as of 2020, the number of installations has surpassed 4,200. It is used in a variety of buildings, both domestically and internationally, including government facilities, public facilities, and commercial buildings, in addition to apartments. In the shortest cases, effects can be confirmed within a month. At Whittington Hospital, where it is being introduced, the effects were immediately proven after installation. So what were the results? Let's take a closer look in the next installment.
