Index (Indexing Equipment) Implementation Case Studies
Case Studies of Indexing (Dividing) Equipment There are dividing devices that perform periodic and intermittent operations of one-directional stop - positioning - stop, and devices that convert linear motion into rotary motion for operation. As for cam-type intermittent dividing devices, there are three types: roller gear cam, parallel cam, and barrel cam. Within one rotation of the input, there is a section for dividing the output shaft (dividing angle) and a section where the output shaft stops (stop angle). In the stop section, while the input shaft is rotating, the output shaft does not rotate, allowing for positioning even with induction motors and the like. (In a four-part dividing device, when the input shaft completes one rotation, the output shaft rotates 90 degrees.) On the other hand, cam-type dividing devices set the number of divisions per movement by determining the amount of movement of the output shaft based on the curvature (shape) of the cam that engages with the linear motion of the piston. Indexing devices are widely used in base machines such as rotary automatic assembly machining machines and automatic packaging machines, which require multi-step operations, as they allow for multi-part division (such as 4-way or 12-way division).
