Torque sensor (non-rotating type)

Torque sensor (non-rotating type)
A piezoelectric sensor with high preload is used as a reaction torque sensor. A quartz plate cut to respond in the shear direction is arranged in a circumferential manner, with its response direction aligned tangentially. The storage of the quartz plate and the shape of the sensor resemble that of a single-component load washer. The torque acting on the sensor generates a tangential shear force on the quartz plate. Since all the quartz plates are electrically connected in parallel, the total output signal is proportional to the value of the torque. The sensor is mounted with high axial preload using preload bolts and nuts. This allows the quartz plates, which respond in the shear direction through static friction, to react and capture slight dynamic changes in torque. With high resolution and robust design, it is capable of measuring a wide range of dynamic torque. The structure of the torque dynamometer is the same as that of the reaction torque sensor. With a wide installation surface and flexible cover plate screw holes, it is versatile for various applications.
