In the fiscal year 2018, the Excellent Waste Management Administrator Award for Large-Scale Business Buildings was presented to Mizuno Corporation's Tokyo Headquarters Building in Chiyoda Ward. The award recognized the company's practice of using a commercial food waste processor, Sink Pia, to process cooking scraps and leftover food from the employee cafeteria. This method breaks down waste into moisture and carbon dioxide, resulting in minimal residue and a significant reduction in waste output. The amount of kitchen waste, which was approximately 30 kg per day, has been nearly reduced to zero, leading to a monthly reduction of about 600 kg and an annual reduction of over 7,200 kg of kitchen waste.
