Thin film coating for dispenser nozzles | Prevents wetting and sticking, enhances precision
Ultra-thin film below 1µm that does not clog fine nozzles! Effectively prevents liquid rise, adhesion, and dripping! Achieves stabilization of quantitative discharge and prevents clogging.
This is a technical case study of our unique ultra-thin, non-stick coating "NonStick STC" applied to metal nozzles for quantitative dispensing devices widely used in automation lines in fields such as electronics, automotive, and medical. It forms a precise and uniform functional film without compromising the fine inner diameter shape (micro-diameter, fine holes) at the nozzle tip. **Main Improvement Effects from Implementation** - **Improved Coating Accuracy by Preventing Wetting and Climbing** Physically suppresses the wetting of the liquid agent on the outer surface of the nozzle. Since the liquid agent does not get dragged and can be applied straight and quantitatively as intended, the dot and drawing accuracy dramatically increases. - **Suppression of Tip Adhesion and Liquid Dripping (Residual Liquid)** With excellent non-stick and liquid-repellent properties, the liquid cut-off at the end of dispensing is smooth. It prevents adhesion and clogging at the tip, improving the straight-through rate of the automation line. - **Ultra-thin Film Application Below 1µm Without Blocking Fine Holes** Thanks to the ultra-thin film formation technology with a thickness of less than 1µm, coating can be achieved while maintaining the nozzle's inherent micro inner diameter and geometric dimensions.
basic information
【Construction Technology】 Ultra-thin film, non-stick coating "NonStick STC" 【Technical Features and Functions】 ■ Ultra-thin film specification (thickness less than 1µm) Precision application that does not change the inner diameter dimensions of micro-holes and fine nozzles, preventing clogging of discharge holes. ■ Excellent water and oil repellency & non-stick properties Surpassing fluoropolymer in release properties, preventing adhesion of adhesives, oils, and various pastes. ■ Improved liquid drainage Reduces the surface energy at the nozzle tip, shutting out dripping, stringing, and wicking. ■ Adhesion durability Strongly adheres to the metal nozzle substrate through chemical bonding, providing a highly durable coating that withstands continuous discharge. 【Target Substrates and Applicable Parts】 ■ Various dispenser nozzles, fine needles, coating valves, discharge metal tubes ■ Various metal precision parts such as stainless steel (SUS) and steel materials.

Applications/Examples of results
**Main Application Areas - Liquid Agents** ■ Electronics/Semiconductors: Conductive paste, silver paste, underfill resin, adhesive for substrate repair ■ Automotive/Precision Instruments: Various oils and greases, sealants, micro-quantitative coating of UV adhesives ■ Medical/Biotechnology: Reagents, various chemicals, and viscous liquids in micro-dispensing processes **Case Study of Problem Solving** ■ Issue In the dispenser process of the automated line, the liquid agent was crawling up the nozzle's outer surface, causing misalignment in application position and variation in application amount. Additionally, the liquid agent was adhering to the nozzle tip, causing clogging, which resulted in frequent cleaning and nozzle replacement, leading to line stoppages. The fluororesin coating was too thick (several tens of micrometers) and could not be applied as it blocked the fine nozzle holes. ■ After Implementation "NonStick STC" was applied to the dispenser nozzle. ■ Effect - Achieved non-stick properties without compromising the nozzle shape, eliminating crawling and dripping of the liquid. - Reduced line stoppages due to clogging, improving application quality and equipment direct throughput rate.

Nikken Coating Industry Co., Ltd. has been a specialized manufacturer of functional coatings for contract processing, earning the trust of customers across various industries for 79 years since its founding. We leverage our processing technology to maximize the properties of fluororesins, such as non-stick, lubricity, and chemical resistance, providing high-performance coatings that directly address customer challenges, including "Thermo Pro Release" for thermal welding processes and "NonStick STC" for blades and precision molds. In recent years, in response to movements regarding regulations on fluorinated compounds (PFAS), "PEEK resin," which is gaining attention as a substitute for fluororesins, has become a focus. Nikken Coating Industry commercialized the world's first PEEK resin coating, "PEEKCOAT," in 1999. Based on the solid knowledge and know-how accumulated over more than 20 years, we are further intensifying our research and development efforts to explore the potential of next-generation PEEK coatings! We aim to be recognized as "the go-to for PEEK coatings" and will continue to lead the way. As "the best partner for functional coatings that builds trust through technology," Nikken Coating Industry will continue to contribute to the creation of high-quality, high-performance products.
