Fluorine coating for rubber gaskets | Prevents sticking and adhesion, reducing disassembly labor.

Low-temperature sintering that does not compromise the flexibility of rubber. Strongly prevents adhesion to the counterpart material even after long-term pressing! Significantly reduces labor for regular equipment inspections and replacement work.

This is a technical case study of our low-temperature sintering type fluoropolymer coating "FU-2015" applied to silicone rubber O-rings and packing materials used as seals (sealing) for pipes, valves, and sealed containers. While maintaining the unique flexibility and resilience (elasticity) of rubber, a functional thin film with excellent film-following properties is uniformly formed on the surface. **Main Improvement Effects from Implementation** - **Prevention of Sticking and Adhesion Due to Long-Term Compression** Even under strong clamping conditions, it prevents the rubber from adhering to the counterpart materials (metal and resin). This helps prevent packing breakage and residue adhesion during disassembly. - **Blocking Thermal Degradation of Rubber with Room Temperature Curing (Low-Temperature Sintering)** Since high-temperature sintering (300°C to 400°C) is unnecessary, it imparts functionality without altering or degrading the physical properties and elasticity of silicone rubber. - **Significant Reduction in Maintenance and Replacement Work** Eliminates the need to scrape off adhered rubber. This greatly streamlines equipment overhauls and packing replacement tasks, reducing downtime.

basic information

【Construction Technology】 Low-temperature sintering (room temperature curing type) fluorine coating "FU-2015" 【Technical Features and Functions】 ● Excellent non-stick and release properties Physically prevents long-term adhesion (sticking) to metal and resin flanges. ● Room temperature curing and low-temperature film formation Minimizes thermal impact and thermal degradation on substrates (rubber, plastic, etc.). ● Excellent film followability and flexibility Follows the expansion, compression, and deformation of rubber, suppressing cracks and peeling of the coating. ● Maintenance of sealing properties Ensures the original sealing function and dimensional accuracy of O-rings through thin film coating. 【Applicable Substrates and Parts】 ● Various rubber components such as silicone rubber ● O-rings, gaskets, seals, diaphragms, rubber plugs, valve seating surfaces.

Applications/Examples of results

【Main Application Areas and Equipment】 ● Chemical and Plant Equipment Chemical piping flanges, valve joints, sealing gaskets for reaction vessels ● Semiconductor Manufacturing Lines O-rings for connecting equipment and piping, sanitary piping gaskets ● Automotive and Industrial Machinery Sealing parts for various oil and water applications, rubber components for air cylinders 【Problem-Solving Case Studies】 ● Issue In sealing parts of various equipment and containers, silicone rubber O-rings were strongly pressed and adhered to the counterpart material (metal flanges), causing the gaskets to break during disassembly inspections and requiring significant time and labor to scrape off the adhered rubber for cleaning. Conventional fluorine coatings could not be applied due to thermal degradation of the rubber from high-temperature firing. ● After Implementation "FU-2015" was directly applied to the surface of the silicone rubber. ● Effects and Results: - Achieved non-stick properties while maintaining the elasticity of the rubber, allowing for smooth removal even after prolonged tightening. - Eliminated the need for removal and cleaning of adhesion, significantly reducing maintenance time (downtime).

Nikken Coating Industry Co., Ltd. has been a specialized manufacturer of functional coatings for contract processing, earning the trust of customers across various industries for 79 years since its founding. We leverage our processing technology to maximize the properties of fluororesins, such as non-stick, lubricity, and chemical resistance, providing high-performance coatings that directly address customer challenges, including "Thermo Pro Release" for thermal welding processes and "NonStick STC" for blades and precision molds. In recent years, in response to movements regarding regulations on fluorinated compounds (PFAS), "PEEK resin," which is gaining attention as a substitute for fluororesins, has become a focus. Nikken Coating Industry commercialized the world's first PEEK resin coating, "PEEKCOAT," in 1999. Based on the solid knowledge and know-how accumulated over more than 20 years, we are further intensifying our research and development efforts to explore the potential of next-generation PEEK coatings! We aim to be recognized as "the go-to for PEEK coatings" and will continue to lead the way. As "the best partner for functional coatings that builds trust through technology," Nikken Coating Industry will continue to contribute to the creation of high-quality, high-performance products.
