[Analysis Case] Analysis of Mold Odor Causing Substances in Water
Analysis of trace amounts of mold odor-causing substances in water is possible.
Geosmin and 2-methylisoborneol (2-MIB) are produced by cyanobacteria or actinomycetes and are considered substances that cause odor and taste disturbances in drinking water sourced from surface water such as dams, lakes, and rivers, as well as being known as substances that cause musty odors. This case presents the results of measuring geosmin and 2-MIB contained in water. Detection at ppt (ng/L) levels is possible using GC/MS.
