[Analysis Case] Molecular Structure Analysis of Liquid Crystal Materials

It is possible to estimate the structure of liquid crystal molecules in liquid crystal displays using GC/TOFMS.

The response speed, driving voltage, and reliability characteristics of liquid crystal panels are attributed to the molecular structure of the liquid crystals. Therefore, analyzing the details of the molecular structure is essential for controlling the display characteristics of liquid crystal panels. Here, we introduce a case where the liquid components in commercially available panels were extracted and structurally estimated using GC/TOFMS. Approximately 10 components, including liquid crystal materials that exhibit negative dielectric anisotropy, were estimated from precise mass information.
